WWE Friday Night Smackdown Rundown

I will say, we are week 2 on the 3 hour Smackdowns, and I am loving them. I feel like the time has been used more properly and the storylines are really thriving. This one.. this one was big. And we’ve got a lot to talk about, so let’s get into it!

Kicking off Smackdown: Randy Orton

What a good day it is to have Randy Orton on my television. But this time was a little different. Trick Williams put himself into the middle of things, and things were heated. I loved the promo with these two. It does make me believe that Trick Williams will be doing major things with his time in WWE.

Rey Fenix vs. Trick Williams
This match was very good, but it was a toss up on who would be winning. I did think maybe Randy or Miz would be getting involved but that wasn’t the case. We saw Trick Williams pick up the win. Hmm.. so can we get Rey and Penta together now that Penta is cleared? Please?

Giulia vs. Alexa Bliss
I didn’t care for this. I love Alexa Bliss but feel this was more of a story line set up for me. Char was “out sick” and was left by herself to figure things out. This didn’t work out… Giulia had some help, resulting in her win. Now.. is this really a story? Since we did see Alexa on the phone talking about Char being sick… does this really play in? Leading up for a joining of the Wyatt Sicks? Hopefully we will get more moving forward into next week.

MFT vs. Wyatt Sicks
This match was pretty good overall. I loved the intensity of both teams, and the important feeling of the match itself. Just as expected, Solo did play mind games with Uncle Howdy.. taking the lantern, resulting in a distraction.. leading to Howdy taking the pin. This was not a clean win. I fully believe that this needed to happen and I’m okay with it. Now.. we will see Howdy vs Solo, leading into the Royal Rumble. But.. the question is, does it happen AT the Rumble? Or.. the week before at Saturday Night Main Event? Either way, we could see a new version of Howdy..

Alba Fyre vs. Jordynne Grace
I love both Alba and Jordynne, as they are very good in the ring.. However this match just wasn’t it for me. It felt very rushed and just a showing of Jordynne overall. At the end… we saw Jade talking trash and sizing up Grace, aiming at a match coming sooner than later. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t like Jade being champ right now. Now, don’t get me wrong.. she is wonderful, and a very hard worker. But I feel the matches she has had are only keeping her numbers up as days as champion. It’s very apparent that her next big feud will be Bianca, but.. is that match going to be at Mania or sooner? I’d love to see her in a full blown feud before that, but it just doesn’t seem possible.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
There isn’t much to say here.. this match was amazing. I very much enjoyed it, even tho I wasn’t too thrilled at first. Carmelo did pick up the win.. asking the question, who will be next?

**Did anyone else almost pass out at what we thought was Axiom attacking Nathan backstage? Because the gasp that left my body was not of this world. It did end up being Johnny Gargano.

Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
The 3 Stages of Hell happened.. and boy was it something to behold. Of course going into it, the first two stages weren’t very important in my eyes. While it was GOOD, we knew it would be Drew winning won, and Cody winning the other.. leading it to a “sudden death” situation. The steel cage match was in fact intense the entire time. But what I wasn’t expecting, was Jacob Fatu to make his return.. and go all out. In all the madness, Cody did not get pinned.. but Drew was able to escape the cage, resulting in you NEW champion! I WAS IN SHOCK! Drew is your NEW champ! FINALLY! This.. this needed to happen friends, and it was deserved. Things have surely changed leading into Mania this year… and it’s going to be a ride for sure.

Overall: 9.4/10

UP NEXT: Monday Night Raw

We are pretty much balls to the wall, moving into the Royal Rumble.. and Mania. With multiple champions moving hands, anything goes.. and pretty much anything can happen at this point. Now the question goes.. who are we thinking for the Rumble?

My thoughts (so far): Bron Breakker and Liv Morgan
