WWE Friday Night Smackdown Recap

We are now about 5 weeks away until Wrestlemania, and things are starting to heat up in the best way! Matches are very much setting in stone, and now all we are waiting on is the announcements. We’ve got a lot to talk about, so let’s get into it!

-Kicking Off: Drew QUITS (again)
I thought this was alittle weird, but that’s just me. Having Drew quit again… just seems off but whatever. We also did see Jacob get involved as well, which we did already see that it was planned for those two to go at it at Mania this year. Why make him “quit” then? Why not a massive crash out instead of the same crap we’ve went through before? Dramatics?

-The MFTs vs. Wyatt Sicks
The match itself was SO good! I really enjoyed it overall.. I can understand where people are getting a little upset, but in all reality, we are in the home stretch to Mania. Howdy got the pin AGAIN, but while they had the lantern at one point.. it was taken AGAIN. Not thrilled, but I can kind of see what is happening here. The match at Mania HAS to have a stipulation of some kind. That goes for if it’s a singles match or multi match. Regardless, I’m having fun all together.

-Jade Cargill vs. Michin
Wasn’t a fan… it was a non title match, of course. And it was the same song and dance that is done each time Jade has a match. Afterwards, we did see Rhea come out to the ring for a small promo. I want to love this feud, but I can’t.. it’s just too “blah” .. and that isn’t for lack of them trying. You can tell this is very forced, and wasn’t the original plan.

-The Irresistible Forces vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss
We did see the Bella Twins! FINALLY after over a month. It’s nice to see they are going to be used going into Mania. The match itself was good, until it wasn’t. It ended in no contest.. and by the looks of it, so will next week when Irresistible Forces face the Bella Twins. It appears we are getting a multi women’s tag match at Mania! But the question is.. who all will be in it? And who will walk out champs?

-Damian Priest and R-Truth vs. Los Garzas
Going into this, I thought it was going to be a squash match overall, but I was wrong! I actually really enjoyed this match and it was pretty fun! Of course, we did see Damian and Truth pick up the win. Now.. when it the title match? Because I could have sworn it was this week? Next week? Or… are they waiting until Mania?

-Miz TV with Jelly Roll
Danhausen cursed The Miz.. and went just about how you think it would. I loved this whole segment, even if Jelly Roll was apart of it. It was very interesting to see it unfold, and it does seem we are getting more of a match out of this. Kit Wilson will be calling out Jelly next week. So… are we seeing a tag match in the works? Also.. apparently Danhausen’s curse can be reversed? Hmm…

-Tiffany Stratton vs. Kiana James
Wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t my favorite either. This does have me wondering what they are doing with Tiffy and Kiana moving forward into Mania. If Tiffy is going for the US Title, could we possibly see Kiana turning on Giulia sooner than later? I wouldn’t mind seeing the US Title on Kiana in the near future.

-Jacob Fatu vs. Trick Williams
This match was GREAT! I loved it from start to (almost) finish. Once again.. we saw Drew attack Jacob that resulted in Trick getting the win. See.. what was the point of the “I quit” speech? Just doesn’t make sense to me, but I guess this does confirm that we are getting more of Jacob/Drew. BUT.. we also saw Nick announce their match for next week… we can all agree that isn’t ending clean.

-Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton Contract Signing
This did not go how I thought it was going to go… while the start was nice, almost… too nice.. things went south right after the contract was signed. Randy Orton let the voices win.. because he attacked Cody and went INSANE. This was not a simple beat down, this was a attempted murder. OH MY GOODNESS… we’ve been waiting SO long for this. I hate to admit I was wrong, BUT.. this was the best option for a Mania match than anything.

Overall: 8.9/10

-UP NEXT: AEW Revolution on Sunday and Monday Night Raw

Normally, I do a recap of what is possible to come… but let’s just do something a little different and speak my mind:

-It’s okay to have different opinions.
-Bully isn’t okay.
-You can like the same wrestler… and have different opinions on them, and it be okay.
-If you don’t like someone’s opinion, block them.. ignore them… mute them… Your mental health is so much more important then back and forth bullshit.
-If someone’s opinion triggers you SO bad… please walk away from the internet, and have some self care.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

until next time

xoxo,
